Programs
The Center for Safety and Digitalization organizes knowledge and innovation programs in the following thematic areas:
- Critical data and infrastructure
- Information-driven work and actionable intelligence
- Cybersecurity and cyber resilience
The CVD is a network organization, creating a knowledge and innovation environment with national impact by organizing projects and public-private partnership project consortia through our four programs: Education, Lifelong Learning (LLO), Research, and Entrepreneurship.
Education
The CVD knowledge partners offer a comprehensive range of personalized learning trajectories focused on digitization and security. Regardless of the educational level, from vocational training to university, (future) professionals can engage with relevant issues. We assist in organizing a continuous learning path, ensuring coherence for (aspiring) professionals, imparting the latest insights from applied research, and facilitating cross-level learning among educators.
Research
In the CVD, partners collaborate in various ways to develop knowledge in the fields of security and digitization. Practorates (vocational education) and lectorates (higher education) conduct short-term research projects, addressing practical themes with the involvement of students and teacher-researchers. HBO and WO students have the opportunity to participate in challenging traineeships, where they work on current strategic issues. Consortia are formed in collaboration with industry partners, bringing together researchers from the entire knowledge spectrum to address issues related to cybersecurity, information-driven work, or critical data and infrastructure. These coalitions are also involved in the development of Lifelong Learning (LLO) programs and the establishment of joint high-quality research laboratories.
Lifelong Learning
Secure digital transformation requires professionals who continuously update their knowledge and skills for using digital technology and data in a responsible manner. The CVD knowledge partners create – jointly with coalitions of major employers – state of art learning pathways for employees in the domain of security and digitisation. CVD engages in the implementation of the information and education provided by the VNG, the CCV and the national Impact Coalition Safety & Security. A multi-annual programme will be offered for branches of the regional SME (as part of the national Katapult programme)

Increasingly, startups and scale-ups are seeking a place in the shadow of universities and higher education institutions to exchange knowledge and experiences. It proves to be an excellent way to drive innovation. That's why our knowledge partners provide space for an Innovation and Startup Lab and an Entrepreneurship Hub: places where the business community and education come together around digital security. Additionally, there is an intensive collaboration between Apeldoorn IT – the network of IT professionals – and the knowledge institutions: digital security is scrutinized through activities such as internships, guest lectures, projects, and a shared laboratory.
